Lauren Zavaleta
(Ballet, Pointe, 3/4 Combo)
Lauren Zavaleta is a native of Baltimore. She began dancing at the age of 5 at local recreation centers, and at the age of ten, joined a newly opened studio called the White Marsh Ballet Academy. She trained in the Vagonova technique, under the instruction of Sandra Prehoda and Shari Vasquez, and became a member of their dance company The Baltimore Dance Ensemble. She furthered her training at the Baltimore School for the Arts, and had the opportunity to work with many well known ballet masters and guest choreographers, and was chosen for many leading roles in their productions. During her summers while school was out, she attended summer intensives at The Washington Ballet and the Cumberland Ballet. She graduated and went on to attend Towson University with a major in dance. She joined Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida, and later returned to Maryland to dance with Ballet Theatre of Maryland. She has taught at White Marsh Ballet Academy, Ballet Theatre of Maryland, Stageworkz, and is very excited to be joining the staff at THE NEWMAN!
