Katie Embser

(Aerial Dance)

Katie Embser is thrilled to start sharing her aerial experience with THE NEWMAN Dance Center! Originally from Annapolis, Maryland, Miss Katie is a 21 year old student at the University of Maryland. After starting gymnastics, dance and cheer, all at a young age, she eventually combined these sports to lead her to her passion-- aerial arts. Starting back in 2011, Miss Katie began her aerial dance career at Studio180 as a member of the Junior Aerial Company and moved on to perform professionally in Alter Circus’s Hysterical, Steal A Step’s Kick Before You Drown, and as a pre-professional in Vaudoux Aerial Dance Theatre’s Hall of Mirrors, Adrift, Gris, and Away. Miss Katie is trained corde lisse, dance trapeze, Lyra, and strap loop under the private coaching of Alter Circus’s artistic director, Jessica John. This past year she taught aerial arts at Studio180, and currently works at the Trapeze School of New York in DC. Miss Katie is committed to using her knowledge to encourage safe yet exciting aerial experiences for her students, and is so grateful for the opportunity to begin her journey at THE NEWMAN Dance Center!
