Hailey McDonald
(TNC Coach, Tap, Musical Theatre, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Ballet, Jazz)
Hailey McDonald was three years old when started her dance journey in Crofton, Maryland, where she built the foundations for a lifelong love of dance. She later continued her instruction at a local Annapolis studio, where she worked closely with Senior Faculty members Brooke Newman, Breonna Ellis, and Sylvia Whitlock. Hailey became a competition team member at age eight, where she trained and performed until the studio’s closure. She joined THE NEWMAN Company in 2020 and continued to compete until she graduated high school. Hailey has won multiple special awards and scholarships at the regional and national levels and placed nationally for her senior-year tap solo (choreographed by Sylvia Whitlock). Hailey is classically trained in ballet, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, musical theater, and her personal favorite tap. She also served as a team and spirit captain during her time as a Newman Company member. Hailey began teaching at the Newman directly after graduating, juggling classes at the studio alongside courses at Anne Arundel Community College, where she earned her Associate Degree in General Biology.
Hailey’s goal as an instructor is to inspire confidence and grit in her students using her unique perspective as a former Newman Company member. She is passionate about giving her students a supportive and fun environment to explore their interest in dance. When she is not at the studio, Hailey can be found tending to her houseplants or delving into a good book. She is set to graduate from the University of Maryland with a degree in Plant Biology and intends to continue her education at the graduate level. Hailey is excited to dive into her fifth year as a member of The NEWMAN faculty!
